One month to go to Minoan Routes launch from London Oxford

Passengers awaiting  the launch of Minoans  services from  Oxford to  Edinburgh and Dublin have just a month to wait  to experience  the quality on board products.

Minoan's  Fokker F50 fleet features the profile  of its base Crete on the sides of its aircraft.

Services to  Edinburgh and Dublin  commence 04  and 06 March  offering business day return  services   with additional Sunday services to both  destinations.

Aimed primarily at the corporate travel community , access to  seat purchase  can now be effected via the industry  GDS portals Amadeus, Travelport and Sabre in addition  to  Minoan's own website.

Locally recruited crew  are supplementing the  head office based crew for the Oxford operation.

The proposed passenger volumes associated with  these additional Oxford destinations has  necessitated the expansion of  passenger areas in the terminal. Every effort has been made  to  retain the 'business class lounge ' feel  of the check in and gate areas.  Short passenger processing distances from  surface transport through check in  to  plane  have allowed Minoan to  specify a minimum check in  time of just 20 minutes  for Oxford departures .

New Airline customer and new scheduled services announced for London Oxford Airport

Minoan Airlines,  the established  European  airline operator  has announced the  commencement of operations from  the UK  with services from London Oxford to domestic and European destinations .

Services to Edinburgh and Dublin  will be introduced from  4th  March  2013 with additional destinations launched  through the subsequent 2 months.

New services are likely  to deliver in excess of 100,000 passengers through London Oxford within the first year of operation.

Aimed primarily at the corporate travel community, services will reflect the travel needs  of the business community.

The routes identified  have large corporate travel volumes and as such require a  day return facility for those customers. Seats went  on sale on the 22nd  January .

Flight times to Edinburgh (1hr 15)  compare very favourably with the  5+ hour train equivalent from Oxford.
Flights will additionally provide connectivity  through to a range of East Coast USA and Middle East/Far East  destinations.

Minoan  will establish a base  for 2  Fokker F50 aircraft  from its fleet at London Oxford, operated by locally recruited  crews.  Aircraft are configured with 50 seats  to provide a good match  against the customer types and volumes identified. The on-board  product  will  include complimentary catering appropriate to the time of day.

Seat sales will be effected through  both Minoan's in house interactive web site and also via the industry established GDS/BSP reservation/ticketing systems used by the majority of  corporate travel agents.

Compared with established  travel methods from other airports, the combination of reduced surface transport access times to London Oxford for  Oxfordshire residents, lower car park charges,  quick passenger processing times through the airport terminal and convenient departure times will significantly improve the flying experience  for the traveler. Arriving passengers at London Oxford can expect 'plane to car'   times of 10 minutes  or less.

These destinations will additionally  have great appeal to  leisure customers  and Oxfordshire based specialist tour operator  Great Experience Travel  will  be providing city break  packages  on commencement of the  services.

Oxford ranks  in the top 3 UK destinations for  receiving international visitors  and Minoan's  operations will  equally appeal to  incoming  passengers, looking  for easy access  to  the city and surrounding county for weekend breaks.

Freight and self loading freight!

London Oxford Airport  sees both  Dornier and Jetstream  aircraft operating  Manx2.com  schedules  for its  Isle of Man and Jersey daily schedules.

This carrier  demands   a 20 minute turnaround at Oxford for all its movements. Short passenger processing  distances both pre and post check in allow a minimum 15 minute check in to be accomplished with ease where required. Arriving passengers are often  through the terminal with luggage and into taxis within 5 minutes. A shuttlebus schedule to Oxford Station coordinates with every arrival and departure.

Having commenced  London Oxford operations in  May  with  the best pre operational bookings for any of its services,  forward bookings into July and August remain strong with average load factor  ahead of forecast.

So which is the next destination seeing  services from  London Oxford? Domestic or International ?

The installed radar, having been under test is  operational from 1000 on 2 July . Use of the radar by ATC  will  allow more efficient  aircraft arrivals and departures , reducing airborne times by minimising  the need for 'procedural'approaches
The Metroliner is a great workhorse for the  priority freight operators  with a decent range and good cargo carrying capacity . Of the many now regularly seen at OXF,  this arrival brought 'just in time' freight  for the automotive  industry  and left for Europe with urgent aircraft spares

And charter flights too

The attraction  of the airport's geographic location as a departure point is not  confined to   VIP corporate  customers

This Suckling Airways charter to  Nice  mixes it with  the recently launched  Manx2.com scheduled  service on the ramp at London Oxford

From May14, 3 days in   Geneva  for the airport's commercial team at the annual EBACE industry conference/exhibition  has the objective of developing further  business  from   the  corporate  aviation  sector. The  London Oxford Airport  stand (1653)  will also feature details  of The London Heliport (previously Battersea Heliport), recently acquired by London Oxford's parent company.
