Freight and self loading freight!

London Oxford Airport  sees both  Dornier and Jetstream  aircraft operating  Manx2.com  schedules  for its  Isle of Man and Jersey daily schedules.

This carrier  demands   a 20 minute turnaround at Oxford for all its movements. Short passenger processing  distances both pre and post check in allow a minimum 15 minute check in to be accomplished with ease where required. Arriving passengers are often  through the terminal with luggage and into taxis within 5 minutes. A shuttlebus schedule to Oxford Station coordinates with every arrival and departure.

Having commenced  London Oxford operations in  May  with  the best pre operational bookings for any of its services,  forward bookings into July and August remain strong with average load factor  ahead of forecast.

So which is the next destination seeing  services from  London Oxford? Domestic or International ?

The installed radar, having been under test is  operational from 1000 on 2 July . Use of the radar by ATC  will  allow more efficient  aircraft arrivals and departures , reducing airborne times by minimising  the need for 'procedural'approaches
The Metroliner is a great workhorse for the  priority freight operators  with a decent range and good cargo carrying capacity . Of the many now regularly seen at OXF,  this arrival brought 'just in time' freight  for the automotive  industry  and left for Europe with urgent aircraft spares

And charter flights too

The attraction  of the airport's geographic location as a departure point is not  confined to   VIP corporate  customers

This Suckling Airways charter to  Nice  mixes it with  the recently launched  Manx2.com scheduled  service on the ramp at London Oxford

From May14, 3 days in   Geneva  for the airport's commercial team at the annual EBACE industry conference/exhibition  has the objective of developing further  business  from   the  corporate  aviation  sector. The  London Oxford Airport  stand (1653)  will also feature details  of The London Heliport (previously Battersea Heliport), recently acquired by London Oxford's parent company.

The waiting is over.

The arrival today (8 May)of the  first of Manx2.com's daily  Jersey  and Isle of Man scheduled services has been  celebrated  with Champagne (courtesy of Blenhein Palace)and cake  in the airport terminal  for arriving and departing pasengers .
Already peak season services forward bookings show  high passenger occupancy - no small success given that 5 months ago this airline was completely unknown in this region. Manx2.com specialises  in providing  scheduled passenger connections  between smaller regional airports.

Another priority freight arrival  by our colleagues Aeronova ensures the local manufacturing production lines  remain rolling

Aeronova is one of  3  specialist freight operators regularly  delivering  just in time  cargo on behalf of the local manufacturing industries keeping regional production lines  moving

Meanwhile  the business aviation  departures  continue  to destinations across Europe and beyond. Movements of visiting biz jets  add to those of the 25 based aircraft .

One terminal multiple customer types !

With the staff training complete and the I.T solutions  all in place and tested, the arrival of the first Manx2.com scheduled  service is only a week away..  Revising the  landside passenger processing areas from a VIP only handing operation  to  a facility  handling both VIP and scheduled services customers coincidentally within one terminal  has been accomplished.

VIP Lounge

Work to  increase the use of the airport for priority freight purposes has seen an increase in 'Just in Time' flights  from  Europe with local manufacturing  industry making use of the airport' close proximity  to speed up the delivery process. Leipzig and Maastricht are the common  supplier points  for this freight.

And a little flurry of sole plane charters adds to the passenger numbers using  the revised terminal

Immediately after EBACE,  its off to Estonia  to meet the good and great of the airline industry  for further discussions regarding  additional scheduled and charter destinations for  London Oxford Airport.

Oxford Airport Changes

There was a time when  London Oxford Airport was a pilot training and general aviation airfield .

Not anymore !

Now one of the major UK  business aviation  airports serving the UK midlands and south, it is  less than 60 minutes from  London and Birmingham and  the base for an increasing number  of corporate aircraft .

Airside, the airport  has been subject to  considerable infrastructure improvement including a runway extension and widening program, new taxiways and increase in ramp size. A newly commissioned  radar (April2012) adds  to existing  ILS   significantly improves the availability of the airfield in more marginal  weather conditions.
Landside,  completion  of teminal improvements  provide  passenger processing  and NASP compliant  security areas together  with  passenger  departure lounge and separate  lounges for corporate jet customers.

With Manx2 Airlines launching  daily Jersey and Isle of Man services in May and other services and destinations  under discussion, CHANGE  is the word !
